Immanuel, God with us. Wow. Because Jesus came, as foretold hundreds of years earlier, we got to know so much more about God. It was the start of Christianity.
Though not so dramatic, the start of camp is when counselor and camper meet. They don’t have to wait for an activity to begin. As a matter of fact, the one-on-one time they have, that time of being in each others presence, is much of what camp is about.
Camp, a great tool for presence that builds relationship that builds community.
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
